Welcome from The President

Welcome to the Houston Professionals of the National Society of Black Engineers! We are thrilled to lead the 2024-2025 calendar year as a team, with the goal of fulfilling the overall mission of NSBE and the objectives set by the National Board.

The NSBE Mission is to increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community. Our chapter is committed to this mission through our Programs Zone, which features a range of initiatives such as Professional Development Workshops, Outreach, NSBE Jr programs and Collegiate programs. Our Comms Zone is dedicated to keeping all members informed on past and upcoming events and programs, while our Membership Zone works hard to increase and manage chapter membership.

It's my pleasure to serve as your President this season as we execute this year's agenda. I appreciate your dedicated participation and continued support.

OUR MEMBERSHIP

Our Houston Professional Chapter connects with over 1500 professionals across diverse sectors such as oil & gas, aerospace, design, consulting, information technology, and healthcare, many of whom are employed in Fortune 500 companies. As representatives of Houston's finest STEM professionals, our members embody excellence and diversity. Our primary objective is to advance technical expertise, professionalism, and camaraderie among both aspiring and practicing engineers and technical professionals.

Within our Houston Professional Chapter, we boast a membership of over 150 individuals. Members have the opportunity to engage with one of our eight committees, contributing through support, volunteering, and active involvement. Our organization provides leadership pathways, professional development resources, and outreach opportunities, nurturing connections with pre-collegiate and collegiate programs across the Houston area. We extend a warm invitation to join our chapter and be a part of something truly impactful.

FLAGSHIP PROGRAMS

Our flagship programs, held annually, stand as pivotal events in fulfilling the NSBE mission. Through these initiatives, our aim is to propel progress, instigate positive change, and leave a tangible impact within both the Program Zone and the wider community.

Fresh Start, a cornerstone program occurring in both the Spring and Fall seasons, allows NSBE Houston to engage with a diverse range of students and provide continuous STEM skills development throughout the year.

Each year, we proudly award scholarships to deserving students majoring in STEM fields. In the previous year, we were thrilled to grant $30,000 in scholarships, and this year, our ambition is to raise and donate $50,000. Our steadfast commitment to supporting education aligns closely with the organization's mission and goals.
