Pre-Collegiate Initiative’s Mission
The mission of the Professional Pre-College Initiative (PCI) program is to support and encourage K-12 participation in STEM.

Through hands-on STEM activities and informative talks from real engineers, PCI programming is an effort to ensure healthy pipeline development in STEM fields and to stop the leakage of our young talent out of STEM related educational and career paths.

NSBE Professional PCI initiatives and volunteer opportunities include:
We provide scholarship opportunities to area high school graduating seniors seeking to pursue a STEM degree and to area college students enrolled in a STEM major. Our scholarship banquet for all awardees is held each Spring.

Summer Engineering Experience for Kids (SEEK)
The SEEK Program is designed to be a fun and engaging educational experience, led by NSBE engineering students and technical professionals dedicated to pursuing professional excellence and giving back to the community. The SEEK program utilizes a hands-on design curriculum. Students will work in teams, using their knowledge to solve problems and create products while discovering the underlying math and science principles involved in these processes.
Houston Area Career Fairs / Career Days
​We support Houston area schools, churches, and etc. in their pursuit to present STEM to kids & youth.
Fresh Start
​Fresh Start is a full-day of interactive workshops for children & youth in grades 3 through 12. The workshops cover a variety of engaging STEM related experiments to introduce and stimulate interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Fresh Start is held in the Spring and Fall at various collegiate and NSBE Jr. campuses.
