Leader Welcome

NSBE Houston Family & Friends,

Over the past few years, NSBE Houston Professionals have successfully modified the executive board positions to enhance our team of volunteer leaders and formally implemented our advisory board. As displayed in our 2022-2023 Annual Report, our executive board included a diverse group of technical professionals from various academic backgrounds, degree levels, age groups, and gender identities. I am extremely grateful for their contributions.

NSBE Houston Professional Chapter (HPC) also expanded our in-person events and programs. Our most successful in-person events included general body meetings and outreach events at diverse venues at Rice University, the University of Houston, and the Texas Medical Center.  We partnered with new hosts such as Baker Ripley and ASEC Engineers. Likewise, we collaborated with the Rice Office of Research to host our almost 200 student for our biannual Fresh Start pre-collegiate outreach program. This phenomenal event included high ranking speakers such as HP’s Chief Supply Chain officer and Rice’s Vice Provost for Academic Affairs.

We are very appreciative of the numerous partners and sponsors that supplemented the cost of our events or provided funding for our programs.  As outlined in this report our partners included BASF, Chevron, eClinicalWorks, Fervo Energy, HP, Ketjen, Prairie View A&M University, Rice University, University of Houston, SLB, and STEAMvention.

Most of all we kicked off our 35th Anniversary Celebration with ambitious goals we are well on our way to achieving. These include raising $35,000 in sponsor funding, increasing membership by 350%, and curating 35 Collaborative programs.  I’m pleased to share that we have  raised almost $25,000, we have increased our membership by almost 150% and we have coordinated almost 25 collaborative programs.  More details are provided in the annual report content.
